TITLE: Cleanwood Furnaces introduces a unique, ultra clean burning thermal storage wood furnace
SYNOPSIS:
With today's fuel prices more people are looking to wood as an alternative. In the past 2 yrs. I've developed and am now testing a hi-performance, thermal storage wood furnace. I need funding to bring this advanced heater to production for next fall.
PROPOSAL SUMMARY:
My furnace is in a class of furnace known as Masonry Heaters. Masonry Heaters are heavy, thermal storage, radiant heaters weighing from 1760 lbs to 10,000 lbs. They operate on a 30 to 50 lb. fast burning fire lasting 1 1/2 to 3 hrs, radiating the stored heat over the next 10+ hrs. or more depending on your heating requirements with very frugal wood use. Mason built MH cost any where from $10K to $40K and are typically used in a open floor plan. My furnace will retail in the $4K to $6K ? range and weighs 3000+lbs. It can hold a lot more heat than an equal size MH due to the unique stress free design. Mason built heaters are limited to a 200 degree surface temp due to thermal stress factors. I fire mine up to 275 with no problem. Along with the radiant heat I've incorporated an exhaust stack heat-exchanger that delivers 150 to 200 degree forced hot air heat to remote areas during the firing cycle. You may wonder how do you move a 1 1/2 ton furnace? Offered as a kit, it's a very simple yet extremely strong modular design that bolts together with the heaviest piece weighing 100 lbs. The furnace framework and standard fire brick, obtained locally, can be moved into place and assembled in 6 to 8 hours ready to fire up. I plan to offer assembly service. The advanced, totally fire brick lined combustion chamber, enables the wood fire to burn in a naturally aspirated manner (not forced air fed) and develop into an ultra clean, full gasification burn state with 98% combustion efficiency with no creosote formation . Aside from these unique features I'm using this furnace in an unusual manner. I'm using my furnace as the heat source for my forced hot air heating system in the basement. I'm able to maintain any temperature I desire in my 3000+ sq. ft. 9 room house relatively evenly with only a 3 to 5 degree fluctuation between fires. Independent laboratory testing in North America and Europe shows an overall efficiency approaching 75% for this class heater. The heaters are safe and won't burn to the touch.
Simple and easy to manufacture with low material costs my furnace offers an opportunity for high profits along with being able to support a dealer margin. I have previous manufacturing and manufacturing process experience and could easily produce 100 furnaces a year. With an expanding wood stove market, I will market the furnace (the first of 3) with an internet presence, utilizing web sites, You Tube, excreta and selling through a dealer network
MANAGEMENT TEAM:
My name is Gregory W. Bailey, and my ancestry is steeped with innovators and designers. See bio at
www.roadsterdesign.com. I am a self educated master of many disciplines, a designer and visionary. I have manufacturing and manufacturing process experience. I designed and manufactured the first stainless steel heat exchanger for Porsche 911 automobiles in the mid 70's. Most recently I was the production engineer and produced 24 VERY EXPENSIVE limited production pieces of art furniture,The Random Pac Chair, for a famous industrial artist. The project combined cutting edge technology with hand craftsmanship.
The production of the furnaces, once set up can be turned over to good welders and workers to make the parts. This would free me up to develop different size furnaces, passive hot water systems, multi-fuel technology and decorative facades that function as heat-exchangers. I believe that this is a very beneficial product for society and what I was finally destined to do.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT:
I am offering a 20% stake of the profits. I don't consider this a hi-risk venture and know these furnaces will make a lot of money. This is simply an excellent product with a green nature, at the right time, in an expanding market. I want to make a lot of money but I'm not greedy. I have two problems; 1- No money to bring the furnaces to production; 2- how to price them, perceived value vs. what's on the market. This furnace will be the first AFFORDABLE Masonry type heater on the market.
